Hawai'i has strict laws regarding the importation of animals. Shippers must determine and comply with local, state and federal export, transit and entry requirements. Any expenses, penalties or fees resulting from noncompliance with all requirements are the burden of the shipper.
The State of Hawai'i is quarantined to prevent the spread of plant and animal pests and diseases. &Certain restrictions apply to cargo traveling to/from the state of Hawai'i and the U.S. mainland. The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), Animal Plant and Health Inspection Services (APHIS) and Hawai'i Agriculture regulate these restrictions.

Brachycephalic or "short-nosed" dogs and cats are not accepted for travel in the cargo compartment on our flights. Veterinary experts say that short-nosed pets commonly have abnormalities that can compromise their breathing. Stress associated with flight can make those conditions worse.
This applies to the following breeds and mixed breeds thereof:
Dogs
Boston Terrier, Boxer (all breeds), Bulldog (all breeds), Bull Terrier, Brussels Griffon, Chow Chow, English Toy Spaniel, Japanese Spaniel/Japanese Chin, Mastiff (all breeds), Pekingese, Pit Bull (all breeds), Pug (all breeds), Shih Tzu, Staffordshire Terrier.
Cats
Burmese, Exotic Shorthair, Himalayan, Persian.
For the safety of the animal, no exceptions can be made to allow these breeds to be transported in the cargo hold.
Brachycephalic or "short-nosed" dogs and cats may still travel in the cabin with their passenger, provided their pet carrier fits under the seat. Please refer to the Alaska Airlines - Traveling with Pets page for additional information.
During the summer season, certain weather restrictions apply in hot climate locations. On the day of travel, if weather is warmer than 85F in the departing or arrival city, your pet may not be accepted for travel. Please refer to the Operational News and Alerts page for details.
We allow pets to travel when the weather at both the departure and arrival cities is between 45 and 85 degrees (Fahrenheit) We can make exceptions for greater temperature variances if your pet has a certificate of acclimation from your vet specifying temperatures to which your animal is accustomed.
